We the undersigned move for the abolishment of rich and poor. As civilized human beings, we all know, deep in our hearts, from a gut feeling, that the distinction between rich and poor is simply wrong. When you look around and see one man with enough wealth for a small city, all to himself -- then, at the same time, see poverty-stricken families who aren't getting the basics, like food, clean water and proper healthcare, who are barely getting by, with all the stresses and disfunctionalities that go along with "just getting by" -- there seems to be something wrong with this picture. It isn't as if these poor people aren't working hard at their one, two, or three jobs -- they just don't get paid the same as their rich counterparts. It seems the planet's wealth is distributed a bit unevenly. Rich and poor equals inequality -- weren't we all created equal? Isn't that what our country's founding forefathers said? We realize rich and poor dominates our history, but does that make it right? What "right" DOES the rich have in being rich? Are they "better" than the poor? Do they DESERVE being rich? You'll notice the defining factor of rich and poor is CONTROL -- when one person or group CONTROLS another person or group, you've just created rich and poor. If the poor were not controlled, would they remain poor? (I guess control is the "right" the rich have in being rich.) It has nothing to do with money. Money is just a tool for control. When the very first human beat down another human, that was the birth of rich and poor -- does that make it right today? Because of rich and poor, we can credit ourselves with the birth of slavery. Unfortunately, we can't all be rich -- that is simply not possible. If we were all rich, then nobody would be rich -- we would all be equal (the same goes for poor: if we were all poor, then nobody would be poor, we would all be equal). There's an old Zen saying: In order for one to be rich, another one must be (considered) poor. You can't have one without the other. It's one of those dualities. If there were no such thing as rich and poor, we all would be equal. Of course, the rich don¿t much like the thought of equality. Mother Earth provides all for all the life she spawns. We are all born to this planet equally, and the planet provides for all -- except some of us don't want to share what the planet has to offer. Some of us like to have more than enough, while others aren't getting enough. We, the undersigned, think it's about time in our existence that we do away with this immoral act. Sharing the world would solve a lot of man's problems. Until we learn how to share the world, we'll always be fighting over it. Thank you for your time.
