Be More Selective When Recruiting

If America ever goes to war, we will surely lose, and this is why: Most active duty members are alcoholics, rapists, thieves, and rebels. My husband is currently in the Air Force and we regret the day he signed up. What the Air Force has put us through is not worth the pay and benefits. Everyone my husband works with constantly asks him to drink with them and go to stripper clubs. They are constantly bashing women and using horrible profanity, not to mention that they are completely useless as workers. My husband always has to teach people in his shop how to operate the equipment that they should have learned in Tech School. Just this past year there have been over five people kicked out just from his shop alone (and there are approximately 10 people total in his shop year-round). These people have been discharged for reasons like DUIs, drug abuse, not showing up for work, etc. I work at the BX Shopette/Class-Six 4 hours a day. In those 4 hours, I sell at least $4,000 worth of alcohol. The customers come regularly every day. I know who they are and what their names are, so I don't even have to check their ID. I sell about 4 cartons of cigarettes in that small time frame too. People only become alcoholics and cigarette addicts for one reason: they have no self-control. Do you want these people fighting for you? These active duty personnel will not die in a war; they will die from liver failure, heart disease, lung disease, and cancer. My husband is in the horizontal Civil Engineer Squadron. He operates heavy equipment. The other day he had to pour 200-degree asphalt. It gets to be 110 degrees in the summer here in California. There's a guideline issued to everyone stating when it is too dangerous to work outside, but my husband's supervisor ignores the regulations. My husband¿s father almost died of heat stroke; I don't want it to happen to him. It's wrong. He has to be at work by 6:30 a.m. What do they do from 6:30 to about 8:30 everyday? Nothing. Why do the sergeants in CES make everyone come to work 2 hours earlier than they have to? By the way, everything else opens at 10:00 a.m. or later here on base. My husband's shop only gets half-hour lunches. Everyone else on base gets one-hour lunches. What is really bad here is the exercise routine they make them go through. Every once in a while the commanders and sergeants set up this "exercise" to "pretend there's a war". They call everyone in, usually early in the morning (4 a.m.) or late at night (8 p.m.) to "sign in". While the sergeants go through all the deploy bag to make sure everything's there, the active duty personnel have to wait until they can leave, usually after at least 12 hours, sometimes 24. Why does it take that long to do nothing? I have to rush around to find a babysitter every time they have this "exercise." If this is what they are going to do when a war comes, just sit around and do nothing, then I don't want to be in America. Once in a while they decide to have "drills". They call everyone outside to stand in uniform in the hot sun while the commander or sergeant gets it together. After about 45 minutes, the commander or sergeant announces something like, "You've done a nice job. You can go home now." 45 minutes of heat exhaust to hear "nice job". Something is definitely wrong in this Air Force. Maybe it's just this base I'm at, but either way, things need to change. I don't see how an army can win a war when it consists of alcoholics and people who don't even care about their country. Alcohol should be forbidden in the Armed Forces. The government needs to be more selective in recruiting so as not to get the dead beats and not to get the power-head sergeants who just care about themselves and step on everyone else. I'm sure if the President knew what's going on in the Armed Forces, he'd put a stop to it. Thank you.
