I believe that our current "winner-take all" system is unfair. For example, a presidential candidate gets 100% of the electorate of a state. Now, what if that state has a population of 75% white males? Were the minorities and women votes counted? Yes, but their voices were not really heard. Therefore, I believe our Electoral System should be reformed and should be replaced by Proportional Representation or (PR). This system is used by most of the world's democracies. Under PR, a party with 10% of the votes wins 10% of the seats, a party with 15% of the votes gets 15% of the seats, and so forth. Countries with the PR system have higher voter turnout than the United States does. They have more women and more minorities in Parliament. The Green Party, the Libertarian Party, the Reform Party, the Socialist Party, the Natural Law Party and other third parties support this system. More people's voices will be heard with PR.
