End Divorce Profiteering

We, the undersigned, believe that although it is wise and just to require divorced parents to provide for the welfare of their children, divorce is all too often seen by people as an opportunity to use the courts to rob another person. It should not be possible for a person to commit adultery, or in some other way abuse their spouse and then take that spouse to court to strip them of children and financial security in one strike. All too often our legal system condones divorce for profit and this adds to the numbers of so called "dead beat dads," by in some cases thrusting good and honorable men into poverty to support an ex-spouse, who may or may not administer the money fairly to the children. The amount of money required of people by ex-spouses (who frequently initiate the divorce after making no attempt to reconcile any differences) is, in some cases, a calamity. We demand that measures be taken by our state and federal government to apply some kind of checks or balances to the divorce procedures in this country to make sure that it is not used for profiteering!!!!
