There is clearly a demand for energy. The answer is nuclear power. Nuclear power, along with the proper handling of waste, is one of the cleanest, most efficient forms of power. It does not put toxins in the air. If the waste can be handled in a safe and secure way, it will not harm anyone. You hear environmentalists say that we need to stop global warming and find cleaner fuels. Coal would not that category because it puts pollution in the air. What about solar? Well, it is a clean source of power, but if there was a need for a great amount of power you would need much fewer nuclear power plants than solar. What about dams? Well, environmentalists want the Columbia river dams to be torn down because it interferes with the natural environment and the fish wildlife. Providing water for farmers, which is one of the few good aspects of hydroelectricity, is one of the few good things that hydroelectricity provides. It also takes up much land, and people have to move out of their houses and abandon towns for room for the reservoir. Wind farms are good but there is only so much room for them, and each single one does not produce very much electricity, so they would need many of these taking up much space. Nuclear plants are not enormous big, they are big, but they can be in a small area. They do not pollute the air, they produce much electricity, and also provide many jobs.
