Help For Families with Alzheimer's Disease

This country is in desperate need of a cure for Alzheimer's. As the life expectancy increases, we are living in a world where the elderly need more attention and help than ever before. The impact on the families that have to care for loved ones that have Alzheimer's is becoming even more devastating both financially and emotionally. Families need to have some government relief to help pay for the cost of home care. Most families do not want to place their loved ones in a nursing home or in an assisted living facility. The best place for an Alzheimer's patient is in a familiar surrounding and that is usually the patient's own home. The government also needs to allow families to have a $50,000 limit set on assets. As it stands now, patients must give up all assets in order to be accepted in the Medicaid program or to get help in a nursing home or assisted living facility. This is an issue that desperately needs to be addressed and help should be provided to the caretakers immediately.
