We petition you to abolish the 16th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Some of the reasons why we petition you to do this is: 1) The 16th Amendment was never ratified the 3/4ths of the states, making it an illegal amendment to begin with. 2) The IRS has become quite expensive to run over the years. Plus the IRS also has been used as a tool to silence critics of government, especially critics of the executive branch. This is not only a suppression of speech given by the Constitution, but an abuse of power as well. 3) Attempts by the Federal Government to use income tax to redistribute wealth have failed miserably. The wealthy, due to income tax taxing income and not wealth, has remained wealthy, while people trying to obtain wealth have not because they have been taxed to death even if they have managed to obtain very well paying jobs. The biggest victim in all of this has been the black successful athlete. 4) It is not the government's role to redistribute wealth. 5) The amount of money that companies pay for tax lawyers and accountants trickle down to the consumer in the results of higher prices. Lower wages to other employees and lower dividends to shareholders are results due to this expense. 6) The size of the Federal budget since the illegal ratification of the 16th amendment has grown to a size in which it has been hard to monitor all the money. Because of this, the Federal government has been able to stop wasteful spending, at the expense of the taxpayer. 7) Taxing income is just plain wrong and must stop!!!
