Prison Phone System Racket

Telephone Companies and Prisons are making a killing from the families and friends of incarcerated individuals. 80% of our prison population is low-level, non-voilent drug and alcohol offenders that our government places as far away from home as possible and charges a minimum of $9.75 for a fifteen minute phone call. I am in business and have a toll free number and a five cent across the board long distance plan. That means that a fifteen minute call should cost 75 cents. It equals out that the phone companies and the prisons are making a $9.00 profit on each and every phone call each and every prisoner places. If we as individuals would charge such rates, we would find ourselves behind bars! It is far beyond the time that we as American Citizens stand up to our government and fight for our rights. Every day we lose more and more rights. We have more people incarcerated than Russia and their prisoners are all of the violent status. You never know when a member of your family or a close friend can become incarcerated and with our government making so much profit off of the prisons, more and more of us will end up behind bars.
