Yesterday I took a walk along the Saint Johns River. A beautiful river it is except for the many pieces of trash I picked up around it. I was surprised how much trash there is sitting along the edge. Just laying there, waiting for that next gust of wind to blow it into the large river, our river. As I looked into the river, as it was low tide and shallow near the edge,I saw videotapes, beer bottles, and other material things our so called "good citizens" have thrown in there, or have ended up in there somehow. Walking back home, watching cars go by on the road, I saw a lady throw out her cigarette butt, and then her gum wrapper, as if the earth she walks upon means nothing to her. How inconsiderate, how inappropriate I thought. This earth isn't something we should trash, it is something we should thank, respect, and honor. So here is what I think we should do about it. We should put more importance on environmental issues dealing with pollution. We should make laws stronger and tighter on this issue. Law Enforcement should be on the look out for polluters, and actually fine them for it. This effects us all. It's not something you look at and think "oh-well." It is something we need to do to improve the quality of our lives and the earth !!! We can start a Group or Organization of some kind to clean up the rivers and streets of Florida. If there is an Organization already out there cleaning up trash, I think they need to do a better job. There are many things we can do to help and eventually solve this issue. So lets get out there and stop this trash-crisis. Trash Only Belongs In A Recycling Bin, or Trash-Can, not on the earth. Please give this a thought, and please sign this if you agree with me. It's your health, well-being, and our planet earth we are talking about. It's your choice. So Choose Wisely and Please Put Trash Where It Belongs ! Thank You For Reading and Listening, Daniel Albert-Joseph Cournoyer
