Due to the nature of the crimes that invoke the death penalty sentencing, there is no reason to house death row inmates for 10 years or more. Once a person has been sentenced to death; the sentence should be carried out as rapidly as possible. The taxpayers should not be penalized by absorbing the cost of housing an individual that is going to be executed. Once the sentence is given, the sentence should be carried out within a year.
