Yes, all the money grubbing sell out bands will all cry about how bad Napster is..and how Napster is theft or piracy or whatever. But the fact of it is that it boosts small and local bands sales, even if it does not make the multimillion dollar bands any richer. There is sadly actually more proof that the big time record companies are making more money because of Napster than they are losing. It's just that the principle of Napster has big business trembling. They are scared of Napster because Napster is a voice of the people, and it makes them afraid because they feel they are losing their control over the people and the music business. It's time to show the gold digging record companies we have a say in what we buy. They can no longer sell cd's for 20.00 that cost them .15 cents to make. Granted there are other expenses, the record companies are still taking advantage of the monopolies they have over the music world. This will not bring down the collapse of the music industry, because burned cd's and Napster's files aren't as qualitatively good as the real cd's, so the record companies will simply be forced to quit exploiting the consumers and lower their prices until their cd's are actually worth buying. They have not done this yet because they are well aware they could throw around their weight (money) at the government with high priced lawyers and if they cry enough they could keep selling their grossly overpriced cd's and they and all the sell out bands could go off to their mansions and ferraries. We must show that our voice can not be silenced by money. By high priced lawyers. By politicians who rely on the rich. I'm incredibly proud of the American people for their support of Napster, it shows that we have found the voice which we lost because the disease of complacency which has swept the country. It shows we still have a voice in the big businesses which have become money run dictatorships. Napster is the beginning of a revolution for the general American population, making our voice heard through non violent action, and not just futile grumbles.
