Community Standards

Fine print and legal mumbo jumbo go against our grain — instead of the severe, indigestible posts you usually find in places like this, we tried to develop something a little clearer and friendlier.

We consider ourselves a community. As such, we have a few rules we ask users to respect and follow, in order to maintain an atmosphere suited to the open exchange of ideas. As things around us change, so may our policies. Stay updated by checking in every so often.

Free speech is a basic cornerstone of lively debate. However, even free speech is limited by how it affects the rights of others. Everything posted on SpeakOut.com-whether by us, our partners, or you-should conform to certain community standards as outlined below. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates them.

We expect our members to agree and disagree on many issues, but personal attacks, illicit sexual references, and hate speech are unacceptable. Nudity has its place — SpeakOut.com is not one of those places. Any uploaded photos or images that contain partial or full frontal nudity will be removed.

Violence and drug abuse will occupy significant areas of focus at SpeakOut.com, but any language, description or image that incites violence or encourages the use of illegal drugs is unacceptable.

You may not pretend to be anyone whom you are not. You may not impersonate another member, a celebrity, or a SpeakOut.com employee or associate.

Never attempt to get a password, other account information, or other private information from a member. A member's account is absolutely protected. SpeakOut.com staff will NEVER ask for your password. Don't give your password out to anyone.

Chain letters and pyramid schemes are not allowed. Even the ones that aren't illegal are annoying to most people and tie up online resources.

You may place advertisements only in areas designated for that purpose. Unsolicited advertising is not allowed. This includes the sending of bulk e-mail.

SpeakOut.com cannot monitor all of the activity that takes place on our site. If you see something that you feel violates the standards outlined above you may ignore it, or report it to us. We will not restrict the opinions of those visiting our site, but we may regulate how those opinions are expressed, especially when it comes to hate speech. To register any concerns about our community standards, or to make us aware of possible violations, e-mail us at info@speakoutfoundation.com.
